new music tuesday.

every stinkin’ tuesday i get that annoying email from apple talking about new music tuesday. but rarely do i find much music that entices my senses and i end up trashing the email. to my delight…it’s about the only thing from apple that i have found to be subpar.

so i’ve decided to take matters into my own hands. not that i am some music connoisseur by any means… i’m actually quite the opposite. but i have friends who do love music and often point me in the right direction.

so i’ve decided to share some of these beautiful nuggets with the world. sometimes they will actually be new albums, artists, etc. and sometimes they will just be new to me. either way they are the sounds and artists that inspire every image we create. for there isn’t a moment of editing that goes by without a melody in the air.

this week i have to start with my best find of 2007.

tycho is actually the project of scott bansen, a freakishly amazing musician and graphic designer. so not only are his sounds intoxicating, but they are backed by equally brilliant visual art. with a vibrant spill into the world of ambient music, the ‘past is prologue’ takes me to sunny days as a kid, when i would sit and bask in the sun finding random objects in the clouds. simply put his melodic downtempo beats make me smile. perhaps they could do the same for you.

as new music comes, i shall be most obliged to share. maybe on tuesdays. maybe not. i just promise to not send you any annoying emails.
